Recreational Cyclocross and Gravelbiking This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like :The Dirty Kanza". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

Best Gravel Grinder Events

we were going to do DK this year, but a family commitment (as well as limited fitness) has derailed that plan.

What are some of the other great Gravel Grinder events?
You could fall off a cliff and die.
You could get lost and die.
You could hit a tree and die.

Epic 150. Generally considered to be as difficult as the DK 200. 150 miles but dozens of 15-25% climbs make this a killer. An additional 80 miles length is offered, but is also very difficult.

The Cuba Gravel Crisis is a tough 50 mile ride in October.

Let me know if you come to Missouri, I'm near St Louis and can provide local assistance.
When I ride my bike I feel free and happy and strong. I'm liberated from the usual nonsense of day to day life. Solid, dependable, silent, my bike is my horse, my fighter jet, my island, my friend. Together we will conquer that hill and thereafter the world.

In the south it is Southern Cross.

Pisgah Monster Cross is a classic for the east coast.

Have you looked around the gravel cyclist bucket-list?

Bucket List Rides & Races: The To-Do List | Gravel Cyclist: The Gravel Cycling Experience

Otherwise down here in the southeast most of our gravel events are kinda blended mtb events to get a good turnout. A good example is the Cohutta 100/Big Frog 65, it's mostly gravel forest roads but is marketed as an mtb event due to having singletrack at the start and end.

Skyway Epic 60/100/200 is looking pretty awesome as well and is the same as above. Lots of forest road but some singletrack to attract the right riders. SKYWAY EPIC 2017
