Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like : "Unbound Gravel". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

High aluminium rims anyone?

For my first 'crosser, I'm looking at the rims.

I know Velocity offers the Deep-V, or the Elite Pro as the tubular version. Both are 30mm high, including the brakesurface, and 500/520 grams each.

Sun has the Venus, some 25mm high and 440 grams, so higher and lighter than the Mavic CXP33.

Does anyone know any other option? The CXP33 is lower than what I'm looking for, and some others are over 550 grams which is more than I'm looking for.

I guess no-ony knows an affordable and lasting carbon ri, right?

Can no-one help me on this one?

Ok, I've been looking at carbons as well now. Those are incredibly expensive, but it seems like they're strong enough, plus much lighter. Zipp has some very nice ones, but I'm affraid the price is not.

Does anyone know anything about the Campy rims used in wheels as Bora and Shamel? Are those anywhere near affordable?

Please reply, thanx!!

Hi Jan,

Not too sure about Campag rims except that they should be of a very high quality.

Why not put an add on cyclo-cross.com, as I think the national team coach (Martin Eadon) was selling a set of carbon wheels for £200.00.

Worth a try eh...
