Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like : "Unbound Gravel". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

I saw Spicer has it for about $800, but they don't list the components.

I'd appreciate any thoughts. Fwiw, I'm in Chicago.

I like Ibex for inexpensive yet decent bikes. And, Scott Nicols is not new to the cycling scene. The "X-Ray" gets my vote.

Interesting bicycles from IBEX; but isn't Scot Nicol of IBIS Bicycles?

Had a peek at the Ibex site. Looks pretty good. Right price, too. Anyone have experience with the Ibex X-Ray?

Spicer Cycles. They are a bike shop located in Indiana. The make their own line of highly affordable frames: mountain, road, cross, bmx, etc. They also carry the full Surly line of bikes. Good people, great service. https://spicercycles.com/

Nashbar has a new CX frame and fork for ~$280. They also have a CXP-22 wheelset for $120 with disc hubs. You could put a complete bike together for as little as $600 if you get the lowest-end stuff. The catch is that you'll have to build it yourself (or have your LBS do it).
