Does the season end in mid-Dec everywhere?
Hi,
I live in Baltimore, Maryland (US). This is my first CX season. I am surprised to see that everything seems to be over by mid-Dec. Why is the season so short? I seem to remember that roadies in my native Denmark would have weekly CX training/races all through the winter, but I could be wrong. How long is the season in other places?

My first race of the Season was on September 15th (dusty, short-sleeves, 22 degree heat). My last, probably, mid February (ice?, leg-warmers?, wishing for more frame clearance?). I have raced virtually every w'end so far, (fighting a cold at the mo' feeling that I'm lagging a bit after a promising start) and have 3 races in 8 days over the Christmas period. So we are lucky in that respect.

The season ends in early November in Quebec. I've been talking with some other guys about scheduling races later in November to extend it a bit, but with Nationals at the same time every year, that might be difficult. Besides, It's been snowing, with -10C temps lately. Not exactly the kind of weather that brings a lot of bodies to the start line.

Mid-December seems to be it up here, Mass., as well. The Euro races do go a lot later, but four months of racing isn't bad.

We quit next weekend, Dec 8th. Considering, we also started mid September, that is quite a bit of racing. Most of the folks race Road/Track or Mountain bike, so it makes sense to shut 'er down by December.....
Plus after Xmas I doubt anyone would really be motivated to race. It seems to make sense to me.
