dia compe 287 v-levers with cantis

So, the dia-compe 287-V levers are designed to pull more cable, thereby operating a v-brake properly.

Has anyone tried setting them up with cantilevers to get extra mud clearance? Seems like you could set the pads much further away from the rim than usual, since the levers will pull more cable.

All fine and dandy in theory, but does it work in practice?

I think forum member 'the Fixer' runs thw 287V/canti combo with no real issues. his use of them convinced me to try it.

I've had my 287V's running cantis....you need grip strength to pull them in and hold the cantis, but otherwise fine....

.....and this may just be my impression, but the 287Vs have gone down in quality in the last couple of years....the heft, finish and overall manufacturing quality seemed to have slipped a notch in the 2006 Diacompe 287V levers....
