Miyata 610 touring bike ok for CX?
I was hoping to enter some cyclocross races this season and I'm wondering if it's alright to use my current bike. It's a Miyata 610 from the mid 80's. It has features typically found on cyclocross bikes (cantilever brakes, clearance for tires > 38mm). However, I don't know how touring bike geometry compares to that of a cyclocross bike. I also don't want to damage the frame by going over excessively rough terrain. Suggestions?

I raced sucessfully for two years on an old 80's Nashbar touring bike. Don't worry about the frame, it's strong enough. I would recommend that you convert the down tube shifters to bar cons. Shifting on the DT is way to difficult in cross.
