Hi

I have a Specialized TriCross Expert on order with my LBS, I've been waiting for it since middle of March. Everytime I checkin I'm told it will be another 2 weeks - this has been going on since the middle of March!

Supposedly the shop manager has talked to the Spec'd rep and the latest is that it will be available at the end of May for the west coast - last I checked that's next week. The shop hasn't taken my deposit, they might have known this would happen.

Does anyone out there have extra insight into the availability of these bikes? Anyone else out there have one ,and can verify that its definitely worth the wait - I'm a Specialized guy, this will be my third, but I'm starting to lose faith...

I have 3 cross bikes (surly cross-check, bianchi steel (replaced a broken bianchi axis) and the S-works Tri-cross.

It's a great bike- one major plus is the clearance. since I don't have someone in the pit to clean a bike for me, not getting clogged up with mud is a huge plus! I haven't seen a bike with as much room in front and rear.

the flattened top tube is a lot more comfortable than the round style, and it's a light frame.

hopefully yours comes in soon ! it's a real nice bike.

I'm getting some kind of singlespeed with drops this summer, and as I was ogling the new 'city version' of the Langsters, I saw the Tricross Single. I already have a cx bike, but that Specialized is starting to call my name louder than the likes of the Redline 925, Raleigh One Way, etc.

I've got an 07 sport (UK). I had to wait an age but I'm glad I did.

Went into the shop and enquired, they said, yes, two in stock in another shop. I went over to the other shop the next day to discover that they'd just sold one and the other was in a box. They said they'd build it and I'd come back at the weekend for a test ride. I turn up to a "Sorry, erm, we sold it" ARGH! Four weeks goes by but eventually specialized delivered to them about a week earlier than the projected date. The chap said that worldwide there was high demand for all of the models.

It's a nice machine, I don't know what pedals your expert comes with but the first thing I did was bin them and put eggbeaters on (I run mallets on my MTB). The ones on the sport really are a load of rubbish. One thing you will notice is the ride quality is incredibly smooth, I'm guessing yours will be even better.

What I will implore you to do is watch for chain rub and cable stretch. I hammered out a fair few miles in the first 6 weeks or so, probably in the order of 800 and didn't pay enough attention to the sounds coming out of the rear mech and the stickness of the changers. Anyway, I blow the rear mech hanger and I'm lucky that I stop before the whole thing seizes. I need a new rear hanger and I've bent the derailleur so a new one of those aswell

Geometry is nice for me, I'm tall but I've got short arms and legs for my build, too much length in the torso. I've been able to commute on it to the tune of 80 miles a week with no problem.

Oh, and the flightdeck that came with mine didn't have index markers but a friend has just bought the same bike and it does. YMMV.

p.s. I say no problems, dust cover over the bearings on the front hub came loose after it lost a dust seal.

Go to the Specialized website and call their contact number. They can tell you how many bikes are left in stock in your size. If they are sold out in your size, the factory should be able to tell you when the next production run will be. At least you'll know what the wait will be.

I went with Tricross Comp, ordered from LBS Monday - picked up Saturday.

Thanks for the replies. It turns out that all my worry and frustration was unwarranted. Just a day or two after I posted I got the call from the shop that the bike had been shipped, the shop got it built up for me and I picked it up just in time for the holiday weekend! So far the bike is proving to be well worth the wait. My faith is restored!
