Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like : "Unbound Gravel". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

Shifting/braking systems for straight/mtb handlebars

My 2004 Jamis Nova got decapitated last night - some a**hole stole my handle bars, stem, shifter/brakes levers and carbon fork. So I thought this would be a good excuse to change over to straight handlebars (which I've always wanted). But I'm not sure which shifting/braking systems I should order which will work with the Shimano 105/Tiagra derailleurs and cantilevar brakes that I still have. So basically, for those of you with straight handlebars on your cyclocross bikes, what kind of shifters/brake levers do you use?

any shimano 9-speed shifting system will work, but you will need canti-specific brake levers. Not a biggie, ask for choices at your lbs.

These shift levers will work on your shimano 2 or 3/9 drive train. Then and cantilever lever like a Paul or even dia-comp will work well.

OMG, what happened? It must have taken them a while to steal the entire front end. Did they break into your house? That really sucks. Good luck on the flat bar conversion.
