Building up an On One Pompino
I found someone selling an On One Pompino last year used and picked it up as it came with a fixed rear wheel (room for a freewheel). I haven't assembled it yet as I have been busy with school and other projects. I am now under pressure to sell it as we live in a tiny apartment, just bought some road components, etc. I had been hoping to build it up and try it out for CX this year. Since it was barely used, I know using it (and say not falling in love with CX so I would sell it) will drop the price a whole lot. But on the other hand if I really like CX then it will have been a GREAT investment. Plus it is useful as a fixed gear.
I have a SS mtb commuter that I can use to try CX races. Is it worth it to sell this and try out CX and then invest in something better later if I stick with it? Part of me also wonders if I would even be competitive on a SS vs a geared ride. Is the Pompino built up as heavy as a Surly geared bike? I live in the flat Midwest now but am planning on returning to the East, which I would think has more elevation change (just thinking ahead...).
Sorry for the confusion but I'm hoping that someone can offer some advice. The blue Pompino is just entrancing my vision and I can't think logically.

Thanks for the advice. I am going to sell the pompino and build up my Miyata as I can fit CX tires on it.
