STI Levers with Rapid Rise Rear Derailleur?
I have a Volpe with Tiagra STI shifters/brake levers. The bike came stock with a Shimano Deore rear derailleur but the shifting is awful. I would like to go into the granny gears easier under load (I'm a Clydesdale) and was thinking of an XT rapid rise rear derailleur. BUT, the shifting is switched around which isn't bad, would be something to get used to. Anyone out there have this setup? Do you like it? Comments?
Thanks everybody.

Are you continually trying to shift under load? I'm only 160 lbs. but both my XT and XTR derailleurs will balk at that every once in a while.
Anyway, the other guy in our little club who does the shorter road rides on a cross bike has his set up this way and says it works great but had him mis-shifting for over a month.
