Thanks! Here's the list. It's got Ultegra 8 speed shifters & rear derailleur from my old road bike. New Sora 8 spd front der. LX canti brakes... soon to be xtr canti's from a friend (weather he knows it or not). Rear wheel is a DA hub/Sun CR18 combo, front wheel is a piece of junk with rusty spokes. Cranks are Gigantex carbons w/Vuelta rings. Pedals, when I race, will be Crank Bros. Eggbeaters. Tires: Panaracer "38 Special's" 700c x 38's (pulled out of the trash can at the LBS). Bars & stem are new Salsa gear & saddle is a used WTB.
As always with a project bike... the first step is to get it on the road.... then naturally, upgrades will follow.

After checking out the forums for a few weeks of agonizing over getting a Road, Touring or Cross bike I ordered a Surly Cross on Friday. The local Performance Bike Shop shop will build it up with 105 and Salsa components. The wheels will have a 36 spoke count.
I am pumped .
Price is $1399 assembled with free annual tuneups. My buyers remorse hairs are all at attention, have I paid too much?

New Surly
Without knowing all the details I'd say you paid full price, but too much... I dunno. You'll love riding it, I've got a couple hundred mi on mine now and I sure have fun on it. I'm sure you will too. Road, off-road this bike does it all!
