Creaking in pedal or shoe?

I just got eggbeaters Chromoly version and Forte MTB shoes. The left side, either the pedal or the shoe is creaking....very odd. right side is fine. checked the pedal, and tightened the cleat......still happening. only happens on the down stroke. can't re-create it by bending the shoe by hand either......thought it may be the plastic in the shoe........anyone have any ideas?

Check the pedal bearing, I had the same problem after a crash on my Quattro's turned out I had knocked out the pedal seal/bearing unit thingy.

Take the pedals off and grease the threads. You might also want to grease the bolts on your cleats.

Shimano SPDs and Shimano MTB shoes. My shoes creak as well, sounds kinda wooden. I think it's either the shoe or how the binding rubs against the shoe.
