one on midge bar durability?

edit: oops. i goofed the title! ha!

i bought these things a few years ago and rode them a while back for about three days with a 25 degree long stem on my 'cross bike. i liked it, but the flat end of the drop was way too short for my liking.

just recently i gave them to a friend.

so while he was starting from a stop, after just a few pedal strokes his front wheel went into a rut, tossed his wheel perpendicular, and gave him a sweet get off. the bars hit, then he went over. he was barely going when he wrecked. his bars did this:

i'm not saying one thing or another really, but i've wrecked waay harder in the same fashion on my current drop bars at speed. plus just about every other time i go mtb'ing, i have a sweet get off or two if i'm going too fast. i've never bent a bar like that.

however, he just bought a new pair since he loves them so much. hahaha

yeah, I did a similar thing (a low speed rear-end bumper clip), went over the bars, and they sheared off right at the stem clamp.
