Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like : "Unbound Gravel". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

used vs. new Tricross - recommendations?

I'm looking at buying a Specialized Tricross. Want it for winter commuting and short workout rides on well-groomed local trails - i.e. am not a racer. But it will prob. be my only bike, so want to choose wisely.

A local guy has an 06 Tricross Comp that's been ridden only on-road (~1000 miles). Price is $1000 firm. Just looked at an 08 at a local shop; the main difference I see is carbon fiber chainstays and maybe some additional Zertz inserts - which seem like they could be worth a good bit in off road comfort. The question is, is it worth spending $1850 for the new model?

Appreciate any thoughts.
