Louisville Cyclocross ??
I've never seen a cyclocross race and was thinking about going to Louisville (3 hr drive) for the Derby City Cup. Any ideas or suggestions on how to see the race, parking, etc.? I see where Chris Horner is on the start list. Is that for sure or just a maybe? I assume this will be an elite group (whatever that is)?

Elite women at 1:45pm, elite men at 3:00pm, but amateur racing starts at 8:30am.
There are two strategies for spectating, one is finding a spot and camping out with a cooler, lawnchair, etc, the other is being mobile and catching the race at multiple spots.
I don't know the specifics about parking but I assume it won't be a big problem. Just give yourself some extra time if you have to hike in a bit.

Here's just a few of the Elite Riders that are pre-registered for Sunday's Race:
Molly Cameron Vanilla bicycles-Stumptown coffee
Adam Craig Giant
Chris Horner
Tim Johnson C'dale/Leer/cyclocrossworld
Geoff Kabush Maxxis/Litespeed
Joachim Parbo CCV Cicli Protek Team
Ryan Trebon Kona-YourKey.com
Todd Wells GT
Barry Wicks Kona-YourKey.com
Lyne Bessette cyclocrossworld.com
Katie Compton Spike Shooter
Georgia Gould Luna
Katerina Nash Luna
Alison Sydor Rocky Mountain Haywood
Saturday's group will be pretty much the same.
Come on up and watch. There will be races most of the day, but the Elite women start at 1:45 and the Elite Men at 3:00.
The course will be flat and fast. There are a couple of decent vantage points but you can walk around and check out the different features like the fly-over, the barriers or the beer tent. Not sure on parking yet, but it shouldn't be too bad.

More ?
Excuse my ignorance but the only name I recognize is Horner. What makes all those other folks "elite"? I see this is a selection for the national team. Is that the Olympic team? What is the significance of UCI sanction?

They're really, really, really fast. These people are all professionals who get paid to race bikes, unlike us mere mortals who must pay to race bikes. All the elite guys and gals are some of the best in the sport and well worth watching, even if you don't know their names.

IIRC Horner would be happy to get a top ten finish. Of course, he is not a cross specialist and it's unfair to compare. I think it's cool that Horner chooses to do some cross racing.

Thanks....
for the help. I may try to get up there. Who is paying Horner? I doubt Predictor - Lotto gives a big s**t about American cyclocross.

Horner wore his Predictor-Lotto stuff during warm-up then raced in Pedro's colors. P-L must not be paying for the CX races.
