I currently own a Cyclocross bike that Iíll never race but I do charity rides. I enjoy riding on roads and sidewalks 90% of the time and 10% of the time on bike trails through the woods. Most of these trails are established with crushed gravel but every once in a while I enjoy getting on mountain bike trails. I currently have Kenda Kwick Cross, 700 x 30c tires on my bike. Iím thinking about getting rid of them for something more ďroadieĒ since most of my time is on dry cement. I have a few questions to the members on this forum:
1. Should I get 700 x 28c tires or 700 x 32 tires?
2. What brands and models would you recommend that gives little resistance on dry cement, good traction on dirt, and good puncture resistance?
Giant TCR 0, Lemond Zurich, Giant NRS 1, Jamis Explorer Beater/Commuter, Peugeot converted single speed
I am currently running Michelin tranworld cities and find them to be fast on the street and still give plenty of traction for non-technical off road riding... Review: 700 X 32 Michelin Transworld Cities (Offroad & On) . You could go with something more knobby but I would not if most of your riding is on the street.
I am running 32's but if I were you I would probably go with 28's for street performance.
Based on reviews, it seems you really need to run a tire liner with these. I am doing so.
