Redline 925 as a cross bike

Hi all,

I just came across a great deal on last-year's Redline 925 (only $300).

I'm curious how this bike would work as a cross bike if I put drop bars on it and canti brakes?

How do you plan on putting canti brakes on it?

Oh yeah, heh.

Is there a brake option that would give enough clearance?

Plenty of clearance for a fixed gear

I've seen a guy racing a 9-2-5. If where you're riding is dry you can get away with sidepull brakes. Or you could find some oddessey pitbull brakes and put those on, or you could swap out the front fork for one w/ canti studs.

I think it'd work fine as a cross bike unless you're in wet conditions in which case you'd have to spend some $$ dealing with brake options.

you could also run some old school center pull calipers made by mafac or weinmann. paul is also making some called racer's, just as some of the old mafac's were named.

My 925 is my FG cross bike. Works great, and ALL the parts have held up 100%.

My only experience with centerpulls are with old, ****ty Mafacs. I hated them.

How do the Paul Racers compare to the standard cantilever brake?

Where'd you find last year's 925 for $300? Do they have more? I'd love to pick one up.
