30 minute race Sunday, should I bother with fluids or pump/spare on bike..
I have my first race Sunday. Being that it is 30 minutes, should I bother hauling a water bottle and spare tire/pump? I figure if I flat Im out of it and I can just walk back. Same with fluids, shouldnt I be able to fuel up before and be fine for the 30 minutes? Im not new to endurance riding, but this is a race, and Im thinking of wasted weight.

neither. do better than the badger vs NW today...

you simply won't have time to drink in a cross race, so don't bother. also, frame-mounted bottles and equipment will get in the way when you shoulder the bike. hydrate the night before and before the race. if you get a flat, you will not have time to repair in and get back in the race.
have fun. we did one today. fun fun, even if i finished dead last. |
Don't bring anything.Good luck.

Frame mounted water bottles and cyclocross races do not mix well. The added weight and the location of the bottle will hinder your runs. I have a friend give me a hand-out as I come by the pit when I need water.
