hmmm
i'm not sure... maybe because i want all the options available? what can the crosscheck do that the steamroller can't? i think i most like that the 'check satisfies my inability to make a decision...

steamer v. xcheck
sorry no pic, but I think youre making the right choice between the crosscheck and the steamer. I replaced my steamroller with a crosscheck last spring and It seems to have been the right choice. had I been able to run canti brakes 38c tires and occassionally a rear derailer on the steamer I might have kept it but the crosscheck is working like a champ. I took it on ragbrai and a few day trips over the summer and use it as a trail bike/commuter. had it single speed for a bit but mostly I run it 1x9. great bike.

I love my cross check. I have one from when they were still reynolds. The only thing I wish mine had were front and rear rack mounts/eyelets. I only have them in the rear, but it has no mount on the seatstay. One of my friends set his up with clamps and extra tubes. It sounds more sketchy than it is.
My Setup:
Salsa Bell lab bar
bar end shifters
Mutant stem
Chris King Pewter HS
Black replacement fork
Cinelli Reflective strip bar tape
tiagra brakes (need to upgrade)
WTB speed v saddle (maybe a brooks soon)
Race Face crank
tiagra rear and front der 9speed
Sun Rhino Lite 36 hole laced to a LX rear hub.
Armidillo tires with liners
Planet bike full fenders.
Not the nicest setup in the world, but I love it
