09 Tricross - Still got it.
 

I thought the brake judder was "fixed", but as a happy owner (still) of a 09 Tricross Comp, it still exists.
I'll probably just toe in the pads as most previous recommendations. If anyone still had issues after toe and and changed pads, what pads did you go with?

FYI, of all the times the judder happened that I can remember, they happened was when I was off the saddle, slow brake (front only, maybe slight rear), going into a drive way or something like that.

More weight on the front wheel perhaps? I'm 6'0, 193 lbs on a 56. I'm not THAT fat am I?

I have an 06 model and I have yet to get it to do the shudder thing that everyone is talking about. I have the Shimano model canti brakes and haven't touched them. I've tried all sorts of things that people have suggested to make it do it and I still have no shudder. I must have an odd ball one.

Have you tried the tried and true brakepad "toe in"?
Worked for me - pretty standard practice for squealing and shuddering canti brakes.
I pasted this from Park Tools but there are several threads on BF that cover the subject.

Pad Toeing:
This is the setting of pad angle as it touches the rim. Toeing refers to setting the pad so the pad's front edge strikes first, which tends to reduce squeal during braking. Caliper arms tend to have play in the pivots and the arms flex when the brake is applied. This may cause squealing in the brake pads. It is simplest to first ride the bike and see if the brakes squeal.

I have a 2006 as well. No shudder, no squeal

Funny thing about this, I think I've seen that this only occurs with the front brake? Ever since I was little I've been afraid to use the front brake because someone told me it could cause me to fly over the handlebars.

In any case, I recently bought a Tricross and I'll be picking it up this Friday. I'm hoping for worry-free riding...

I believe it has "V" brakes - like a mountain bike with a "noodle".
But I will def toe in the pads as suggested.

*doubled check and verified; it has V brakes and not canti brakes. I just took a look at
Sheldon's web site compared to the pics - V brakes with cable to one side, noodle and attaches to the other side.
Where as canti brakes has a cable to a boss on the frame and cable to each pad.*

Yeah, I heard that they were now coming with V brakes. I've heard it was due to the multitude of complaints about the fork judder. I've heard people say they've had this judder issue with disc brakes as well so you never know.

Toe'd it.
OK for now, don't know for sure as the condition was intermittent.

I have a brand new '08 Tricross. Rear brake squeals really bad. V brakes. No shudder in front.

I've had a Tricross Sport 07, 54cm, since the spring of this year and had never experienced the front brake shudder until suddenly a couple of weeks ago it appeared. It happened again a few days later.

It seems to occur only at very slow speeds and in my case at least when there was a light rain or drizzle.
