Proper Fit of a Cyclecross Bike
I am looking at buying a Cycle Cross Bike. Tonight I road a 58cm Fuji CrossPro and it actually seemed very comfortable and not as much of a stretch as a Fuji Team 56cm. Checking Fuji specs the Cross Pro has a short top tube. Do I go for 56cm?? My Pubic Bone Height is 83cm.
Should a Cross Bike be smaller or ??? Thoughts? |
Your Cross bike should be sized the same as a road bike as far as the top tube goes. A lot of Cross bikes have long top tubes for their size, I think that is why some people say to get one size smaller.

Size the frame the same as if it were a road bike. Set saddle height 1 to 2 cm lower than road if it makes riding technical sections easier. Flip the stem so the bars are 1 to 2 cm higher than for road.
But don't take my word for it: Dialing in Your Cyclo-Cross Bike |

you can always buy a longer stem but you can never shorten the top tube.

Thanks for some of the more informative posts and according to measuring one's stand over height, leg length, etc. then the measurement I supplied is relevant.
As far as the other responses - Filed as: Don't Waist Your Time in the Cyclecross Thread |
The OP my find this forum to be actually helpful. Thanks bikeforums once again for the useless drivel.

Thanks Josh. Excellent information!

I'm not trying to be a dick, but the discussion concerns choosing between a 56cm and 58cm in one particular model.

This is true, minus the hall monitor stuff.

Regarding seat height, I have spoken to 2 European Pros regarding saddle height, and they run the same on their crossbikes as they do on the road... They told me some riders do lower their saddle a little, but in general run the same saddle height.
