Vittoria Cross XG Pro, 60 PSI Minimum?

These came on my new bike and I will be the starting point for cross tires for me. Clincher 32's on Mavic Aksium wheels.

Tire sidewall says min 60psi max 90psi .

Many people seem to have tire presure recomendations of 40-50 psi for clinchers depending on the course. Does anyone have any feedback on this combo at lower pressure than 60, and an outcome.

I expect I will be higher than 40 (as I weight 200#), but 60 seems too high to be the minimum.

I know getting out and riding will tell me the story but is there a reason for the 60 psi minimum that I should be concerning myself with?

You should be fine. You'll see soon enough; if they're rolling off the rims in corners or you get pinch flats, you might want to switch.

I weigh 150 and ride light, and I've run Michelin Muds down in the 25 psi range without problems.

Also, remember to use some talc or something similar on your tubes. This will help to avoid pinch flats.

I got a set of these last year, and I was skeptical about the high pressure rating as well, but I like to ride my tires a little harder than most. I tried once to run them down around 45 and when I did that it felt like they were going to roll off the rims when cornering hard, so back up to 60 they went. Might have been mental and I need to try again this year on one of my training rides, but that was during a pre-ride for a race, so wasn't going to mess around with it.

These came stock on my new bike and I've been riding them at 45-50 psi, I weigh ~170. I haven't felt like they were going to roll off the rim, I tried them at 60-65, but they were too harsh and I was sliding around a lot in soft stuff.

we're talking about the diamod tread vittorias, right? i raced one in the rear last year at ~35 psi, never had a flat or problem, and this season riding one in front at ~30-35 psi has not been a problem, either - no flats, no tires coming loose from the rim, anything.

Recommended pressures are always conservative.

Ok on my training ride this week I set them to about 50 and they felt good, so must have been a mental thing last year. Next weekend is the first race of the year so I will report back how they worked in the race.

I've run the XNs at 30psi and I believe they are the same casing, different tread.

Thanks everyone.
I have been riding them and using lower presures each time.
I am at 45 rear 40 front and no problems yet.

I think I only need some new brakepads and I am set for some races.
