gary handle bars
anyone use them on their cross bike?I dont like the depth of the drops on most bars. Thanks

People do use dirt drops, but ideally you set them up differently from normal drop bars. Might want a riser stem.

I run the Garys on my Iro and I like them overall. I plan on moving the levers up to a more traditional position soon. I'm not in love with the current placement for longer road rides since I would rather be in the drops more. I do think that the current lever setup is pretty awesome for handling singletrack.
I also agree with that you need a pretty steep stem, either that or you'll need to use a lot of spacers on your steerer. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...image004sm.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...image002sm.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...image003sm.jpg |
Photos I've seen of Midge bars make it seem more feasible to ride on the hoods than your current setup.

I agree. Riding on the hoods with this setup is almost useless. I was pretty clueless about off-road drops back when I built the bike up, I've got a better feeling for how I want the levers placed now that I've put some miles on the bike.
Thanks for posting up the pic. |
I don't like the Garys at all. The bends seriously limit lever placement.
Midges or the newish WTB Dirt Drops are the way to go for shallow, ultra-flared drops. |
is not the reason for the drop bar to ride in the drop? Not on hoods?
|
I want both options.

I have them on a mountain bike, but sadly not on a cross bike yet.
