Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like : "Unbound Gravel". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

Not brazed, but welded. Not too expensive ($450 more or less).
Thoughts?

-semi horizontal dropouts not required, prefer vertical but either works
-unicrown fork ok
-prefer a lugged fork crown

That Pake frame doesn't look horrible for a frame
to throw-in-an-IRD-headset-framesaver-it-and-forget
thrasher. Just right. Thanks.

Pake is about the only act in town I can think of as well. Fuji Touring still uses quill type stem I think Windsor tourist I've been told is the same frame. There's a Mercier on that bikes direct site that looks like it's a quill stem bike as well, no canti's though...looks like long reach calipers. Course these aren't 'cross' bikes per say.

I'd watch ebay, personally I've had good luck.

An old or new cross frame or a touring frame that takes a threaded headset
and cantis--

The Pake is tempting for the price, even though it is threadless, but upon
closer inspection the dropouts don't look that beefy.
