Commuting, fun rides that involve both on/off road, bad weather crits.

I use mine for commuting, fun rides (50 & 70 mile rides to the beach, around town, up a mountain, etc.), light-medium touring (soon) and hopefully race someday.
I forgot about this video I have.

Commuting, fun rides and cx racing wasn't an option. Given that I use it for commuting about 100 miles a week, it's hard for anything else to be considered its primary use, even if I entered every cross race within 100 miles.

bunny hopping speed bumps for right now. I forgot how fun it is to hop over things. There are no cx racing over here in Okinawa.

It's the only bike I have, and as such gets used for just about everything but racing. I don't like racing, takes all the fun out of it for me. Becomes work.

Fun rides & excercise, on and off pavement.
Maybe next year I'll be in good enough shape to start racing.
I will commute occassionally once I get a helmet. I'm willing
to ride without a helmet in daylight, but I'm uneasy commuting
45 minutes home in the dark with no helmet.

One was for commuting*. The other just sits in the garage and looks pretty.
My schedule/fitness wasn't working with CX season this year unfortunately.
* - i don't bike commute anymore since there's no room in the office for my bike. I still ride the train though.
I guess the good thing now is that i'll have a spare or pit bike for racing whenever i get around to it.

I had been using my Jamis Nova for commuting for the last 3 years. Now that I'm semi-retired, I have a new Giant TCX that is strictly for off road fun.

Mine is pretty much a racing bike strictly. I will commute on it once in a while but that is part of training for racing. But then Ihave plenty more bikes to fill the fun, touring, commute gap

I threw a 23c wheelset with more aggressive gearing and panniers as soon as I got my cross bike. I keep telling myself I'm going to try some offroading soon so I've kept the other wheelset ready to go, but I just haven't yet. Partly I just don't want to have to clean off a muddy bike Maybe on a cold day I'll try out some singletrack.

When I can't figure out what surface to ride on I take the cross and do the road, trail and dirt roads. Used for any real crappy weather ride in the snow/rain/mud. Haven't raced cross in many years but would like to give it one more try if my lower back would just agree with me.
