    do v brakes squeal?

howdy, i am having some issues with squealing cantis, in the wet only, and am wondering if v brakes squeal. i had thought not but the search function reveals some issues even with paul motolites. what's the consensus here? (oh and yes i have my cantis toed in appropriately etc, they are shimano xts i believe)

it may sound counter intuitive but try toeing your pads out as well. I have stopped a number of brakes from howling by doing that. Also make sure the bolts are tight and their isnt alot of play in the canti arms, a little play is not always avoidable but it defintally doesnt help.

Check your current pads to see if they are still toed in. With wear the pad will wear down parallel to the rim requiring a readjustment. Maybe a new set of pads is all you need.

Generally, a squeaky canti will perform well but sounds like you have a cat in your spokes.
