Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like : "Unbound Gravel". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

What's your road cruise speed?

Just wonderng what kind of speeds you get on the road. And what tires.. Particularly interested in hearing speeds if use use tires designed for semi-road/semi-offroad.

I ride on Specialized Borough CX, 700x32C for almost 95% of my riding - which covers dirt paths and lots of paved roads. They have a quick rolling center with knobs on the side for traction. I think they are great tires - I average between 16 and 18 mph on the roads w/o much effort and have exceeded 22 mph for a good stretch until hills got in the way.

+1 for these. I've got the Armadillo Elite version, and can easily maintain a cruise of 18mph or so. I did hit 30+ a couple times last fall with a stiff tailwind.

17 to 19 mph on 700x28 Gatorskins on 15 mile loop. This was after a few months of riding, prior to then I was a couch potato. I'm planning on 500 miles/month for the next 9 months.
