What size are those tires?

Ok Y'all,
Here's my new baby, my '07 Redline Conquest, less than a week old!
She's wicked fast over just about everything and is just a little more bike than I can handle at the moment, but that is quickly changing!

As my first CX bike, I'm morphing an old Bianchi. Here as it exists today. A CX fork w/ cantelever brakes, bar end shifters and 36/46 chain rings are on the list of next additions :)

That bike is awesome! A disc rear would be cool...

Tequila Joe 08-25-06 02:10 PM

Hey, Thanks for the nice comments. The CX experiment is fun and the bike is really starting to grow on me. I'm discovering a lot of things about building/riding CX. I don't think I will put ona rear disk because this would require a disk compatable rear hub and welding of disk tabs to the frame. However, thanks for the suggestion. If I discover that I CX quite a bit, I will buy a dedicated CX bike with disk brakes.

Any suggestions?

thatguy 08-28-06 08:30 PM

Oh, a disc brake. I thought you meant a disc wheel. Now THAT would be cool.

Is that a custom paint job?

Yeah, the only way I could find a frame in my size (49) without waiting for next year's bikes was to find a shop in another state that happened to have a team frame that didn't get built up. It's a sweet paintjob, I think. I raced my first race ever today. Got my *ss kicked, and I'll have to see how I feel about cross in a couple of days, but I'm pretty sure I'm hooked. I don't think I like the Eggbeaters; I think I may put something on with some platform. Otherwise, I was very happy with the bike.

jeremyb 09-13-06 10:58 AM

yeah i like the paint also.

Try the candys if you want more platform, then you wouldnt have to swap cleats.

amorrow 09-13-06 01:14 PM

Hey Steelforme, is that carbon fork stock on your bike? I think I have one just like it, but your headset seems to be integrated. Can you tell more about the source of the bike, and parts?

Well, here's my nearly completed cross project. I picked up the frame for a really good price, moved some parts off my oldish road bike, bought a new fork and some tires, etc. Like all bike projects, it wasn't as cheap to put together as I imagined. Nonetheless, I think it looks allright and it's pretty light and stiff. I don't have a scale, so I don't know the weight. I'm still playing with the the tilt of the bars, I need a fang or 3rd eye for the chain, and I'm thinking about painting something on it. My first cross race is in a few weeks. I have no offroad handling abilities. Wish me luck.

Frame - Redline Conquest (pro?)
Fork - Generic Carbon, It's quite light, has an aluminum crown and seems stiff
Wheels - Mavic Reflex, 105 fr, Ultegra Rr, Conti Twisters (These were my first wheel build about 8 yrs ago)
D-Train - Shimano 600 Crank, 39t FSA Ring, Ultegra 9spd DR,11-23 Cassette, 42t ring used for chain retention.
Pedals - Time ATAC
Cockpit - Cinelli Eubios, Thomson 100mm, Ultegra 9spd STI, Salsa cross lever

The bike came out good! Let's get some dirt on those tires. Call upon Jeffery too.:D

Cynikal 10-05-06 10:46 AM

Thanks, Jeffery and I are hitting the trails on Monday, enjoying a public sector holiday ;) . Jeffery found a frame last night for his SS CX project, so we have a new build to think about. Any luck with finding a frame?

JimmyMack 10-05-06 12:21 PM

Sold some stock. IRO Rob Roy in the works. Maybe by Winter it will be done. In the meantime I have my curbside pickup.:D
