Recreational Cyclocross and Gravelbiking This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like :The Dirty Kanza". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

It **mostly** works as is, but I have to ditch the 53 tooth ring and fit a shorter spindled BB to get the chain line better. The ride is sublime, I'm loving this bike!

You'll probably all hate me for this, but it won't be used as intended (racing cross), rather as a fire road bike and fat tire roadie...

Disclaimer - I won't be able to ride this for another 2 months, so the seatpost and saddle are not dialed in.

I do hate you a little bit. That is awesome! I assume you ordered it in 07 and just now received it right?

Nahhh...I bought it used. I wish that I could afford a new custom, or that I had a time machine so I could go back to 2005 when he took orders, but this was as good as I could get. I believe I'm actually the third owner.

I have the same pedals as you. And that is exactly where any similarity between my bike and yours ends.
Class looking bike. Well done man.

Thanks! I'm looking forward to trying it out and I hope it rides as good as it looks!

I had a Lemond Poprad that I LOVED, but which was ever slightly too small for me. It's one of the few bikes I regret selling, and I hope this rides as well as the humble Lemond did. This bike is total over kill for my purposes, but I've spent the past 3 months on a couch with a broken leg, and acquiring the bits and pieces, and dreaming of the build, helped keep me sane.

Here's a few of my CX's, along with my newest build(my 1st modern road bike)

My Kona JTS is my mud/rain/"dirty girl". I know I have to slam the stem, & remove the fenders, but I find it more "user friendly" when I have to commute.
My Opus is my "Tank", I use her to train, & commute. I changed the stock for with a CF fork. I've set a few KOM's with her, most of them for climbing.
I have a few 2nds, & 3rds with both of these girls.
Thanks to these girls, I thought I'd give road biking a try.

Mine is a Nashbar Steel CX with 105's and a carbon fork. They sold them as a promo for 600 bucks when I bought. Couldn't be happier...except I need to find full fenders and brooks leather to class things up

98 miles with 40 miles of gravel trail along the Des Plaines river today. 700x38 Vittoria Randonneur Hyper on my Soma Double cross made for a smooth ride and a solid pace

Thanks, Cynikal. I may hit you up for a chainring. Speaking of parts, I had to swing by City the other day for a cable hanger and Bowen said, "Oh, is it cross season already?"

I have a bunch. Drop me a line. You should get by Bike Biz. There are stocked up with cross gear. They should have a great team this year.

^^^^Hell Yeah!!! How are you liking the Nashbar? Still on the fence about going that route or waiting who knows how long to find the perfect gem on craigslist, ebay, etc. Didn't know NC had such strong feelings for the military.

The Nashbar Steel CX is worth the money, I originally bought it for the 105 components so I can buy a used carbon/ti frame, but that's out of the window since I love the bike as is. Steel frame, carbon fork and shimano 105's for $600 bucks or so, you can't beat it! Plus you can class her up with brooks leather etc!!!

Finished getting my On-One built up this afternoon and took it out for a spin to tweak the fit. Ten mile verdict: light and lively!
