I'm a fan so far. I had to shorten the stem. It came 120mm +/-7 from the factory. I threw a +/-8 90mm to give me a more upright position which in turn made the steering a little squirrely. I read mixed reviews about the wheels, they are just fine from what I can tell. I rode them 20mph over the lovely pothole ridden Chicago streets and they appear to be true. I haven't raced it yet, but have put about 300 miles on it and so far am very pleased. It's a light bike compared to what I'm used to. I was previously on a 2002 Jamis Coda hybrid and a 1988 Fuji Sagres sp. Both at least 5 pounds heavier. Seems to accelerate quicker than my other 2 or maybe it's the "new bike" placebo effect. I'm having trouble dialing in the rear deraileur, but that's not Redline's fault. This is my first time with disc brakes, they are game changers!! $900 for a $1400 bike? I'm happy.

Not a racer but it does grind gravel. Novara Randonee, pretty much stock except for higher stem, On One Midge bars, saddle, and tires. And custom Coke crate on the back. Works quite nicely on trails with this setup.

I've got this pretty much where I want it to be with the exception of tires. These are 30 year old I had tucked away in the basement. These are 30c and I am look for something good both on road and trail in a 35c. I'm tall with very long legs and short torso so went with a 58 and stacked the stem and am using a long seat post. It has plenty of clearance! :-)

SOMA Double Cross
Here is my Soma, still working on what tire I'll use for multi-use both on road and trail. We don't have many gravel roads in south central PA

I built up a 92 Univega hybrid to use for fall solo gravel rides since most other riding is with family/friends.
Figured it'd be an inexpensive project since the bike was $90 and it just needed new pedals, stem, levers, and bar.
I have $200 in it and will be able to transfer over components when I find a frame that is better suited to my size.
In the mean time, I love this thing, even if it's technically too small a frame.
Some Tektro aero levers, an origin8 riser quill stem, and an origin8 Gary OS Sweep bar were all that was needed.

To add the retro aesthetic philosophy while enjoying the the go-anywhere freedom of a slightly wider tire, I added an Italian recently.
A good hand-built lugged steel-framed bike adds a little individuality to the ride.1997 Simoncini Special Cyclocross is ready for the road or trail. Everyone needs a retro lugged Columbus steel CX bike.

After some trial and error on converting a mountain bike for gravel duty, I thought my 1992 Performance Parabola might work better as is for gravel roads, than any conversion. It already has plenty of clearance for wider tires, mounting points for racks, fenders, and water bottles, and a longer wheelbase for stability. It was apparently sold as a touring bike, but the frame has a lot of similarities to the early hybrids, i.e. mountain bike tubing with road bike geometry. It came with Avocet 32mm cross tires, but they were turning to dust when I got the bike. Saturday, I test fit a pair of wheels from an old hybrid and the 40mm tires fit easily, with room for fenders. I could probably go up to a 45 without the fenders. I only got to ride it a bit up and down my gravel driveway, but it looks promising.

Hello!
Just to show off the 'ol baby. It is a Ridley with Easton Ultra Lite tubing, but I have no idea what the year or model is. I can't seem to find a similar paint job anywhere online.
Link to photo here.
If you know what year/model that is I would be intrigued to know. I have it setup 1x with a Sram Rival Crank, and a Sram Gx clutch rear derailleur.

Absolutely! An early 90s hybrid with classic mtb geometry is the same as what I used a few posts up. Great all around style of bike that you can change depending on need/desire.

Owing to the fact my Kinesis Racelight 4S is expected to do fast pavement duty as much as oft-hardpacked gravel roads, I consider it more a "dirt dancer" than "gravel grinder"!
I just built it up about a month ago, and only yesterday fitted the tubeless AC Victory30s and 30c Schwalbe S-Ones, and I'm still waiting for a new saddle, but then it'll be done...for awhile, anyway!

Thanks! I actually spec'd it for 3 cages, but my builder decided that it might not be structurally safe with 4 holes so close together on the downtube since I have the internal cable routing.

Nice. Here's my new ride as a Christmas present to myself. Another Redline (its not red, maybe I got a Grayline). It helped that it was on sale too...
I love mine. Just breaking it in now and having a blast. Test rode a lot of other bikes and this one felt the quickest and most comfy for my intended use. These are fun bikes...

After much research, ordering, cancelling, and reordering this is what I went with (and the anti BD folks can hit me if they want LOL). For the price point and considering I wasn't 100% sure I was going to commit to this riding style, I am pleased. For the price it couldn't be beat. Pleased so far and really enjoying the gravel/dirt riding so far.
