Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like : "Unbound Gravel". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

Here is my Tricross expert. Pretty much stock. I removed the flat bar levers, changed the tape, cables, and seat post. Here is a pic of me racing DCCX on it yesterday.

Nice looking bike you have. I was considering to get those tires you have. I'm looking for an all-around tire. I commute, ride trails, plan on touring, etc. I do not race (at least not yet). How do you like the tires? How do they handle on the road(s)?

so far, so good. i wouldn't take any super high speed corners on the road with the small block 8s, but for general purpose type riding, i think they do alright. i've ridden them on my MTB for a while and like them ok. when it gets muddy though, i'll be looking for something with a bit more meat.

This is my beauty, I built it all myselft, got the right parts for it from all over the world
  • Ridley X-Fire 52 cm Frame
  • FSA K-Wing handlebars 42 cm
  • FSA OS-115 100mm stem
  • FSA K-Force light seatpost with 40mm seatback
  • FSA Control Center
  • Ultegra SL group
    • Ultegra SL STI shifters
    • Ultegra SL rear derailer
    • Ultegra SL front derailer
    • Ultegra SL compact Crankset with FSA 46T chainring ( 46/34 )
  • Shimano BR-R550 Cantilever Brakes
  • Ultegra Hubs/Mavic CPX22 rims wheelset
  • Ritchey Speedmax Cross Pro 700x35c
  • Sigma HRM 2006 computer
  • Shimano PD-520 SPD pedals

It is a beauty and the ride feeling is great.

I chose to build it with Ultegra SL because the colors matched the frame color scheme a perfection

Sure it is ! and I can tell you for sure, the pictures doesn't make justice to this bike, it looks much better than what you can see on the pics.

The subdued dolor scheme is indeed better than those loud or boring red/white/carbon black schemes.

So if that's "52" Ridley set up like you've got it you're what, 5'9" or so?

I am 5'11" and have relatively short legs ( ~ 33" inseam )

the tires are also tall, Ritchey Speedmax 700x35c

The bike fits me well but the top tube is taller than my 55cm Bianchi ( sloping, 56cm virtual) and how my 56cm Trek was.

I actually like its fit now, better than my Bianchi so I am planning to swap my Bianchi frame to a 57 sometime in the ( I hope not so distant ) future

no , I had a 2000 Trek 5500 that was Red/White/Metalic Black, many years before it became the "standard color scheme" of bikes, and my TT bike is a Bailey ( guess the colors ? yes, Red/White/Black Carbon ).

Last year I sold the Trek and got me a Bianchi and I absolutely love the Celeste, when I go riding with a group, 80% of them have Red/White/Black bikes and/or accesories, my bike stands out in a beautiful way.

So I didn't want my Ridley to be also white/red/black like the 2008 model, so I got me this one ( is a 2007 model ) new and at a reduced price so I am really happy with it.

I didn't think anyone would notice...

I'm an alum - got an MA in 1994. When I was up in the summer, I was looking for a Jersey...finally hooked up with the team on the web.

I made a contirbution to the team to support getting them to races, etc. and got a couple of jerseys.
