Sizing question - Felt f35x
I just ordered a Felt f35x and had a sizing question. I am 5'9" with a 30" inseam. The fitter recommended a 51" frame. This seems a bit small. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. The bike's geometry can be found here - https://www.feltracing.com/09-catalog...s/09-f35x.aspx

I bought a Felt Z80 a couple weeks ago, it has very similar geometry to this bike. I am 6'0" with a 32" inseam. I got fitted to a 56cm frame. I suggest trying a couple frame sizes when you go in. I would try test riding a 54cm and see how that is for you. Hope that helps.

The size sounds right for 5'-9" but kinda small for a 30" inseam.
Did you test ride the bike? How did the fitter determine the 51 cm size?

I have not yet test ridden this bike. The retailer is ordering one for me to try. Not being very familiar with the vagaries of bike sizing, I was surprised that the recommended size would be 2cm shorter than my tri-bike.

At 5'9" you should be able to go either way. There is only a cm difference in top tube length between them. The 53 has a 1 cm taller head tube also so may be more comfortable riding in the handlebar drops given the same amount of head tube spacers are used on both bikes. Do you like your bikes compact or stretched out a bit?

I am close to your height at 5'8" and would get a 55cm of that model. A 53 could be made to work, but I would consider the 51 too small.

53cm made to work? How do you make a 55cm bike with a top tube of 560mm work for someone 5'8"? I'm 5'8" and that bike is 25-30mm too long to ever work for me comfortably. I like to ride in the drops, I would have to stretch way out the the 55cm. Perfect recipe for pain.
