CX Component Question
So I have decided on a change this year and going with flat bars on the CX bike.
Which leads me to some component questions.
I am running a 9 speed SRAM road cassette.
Are mtn bike shifters compatible with road bike rear derailleurs? I believe that Shimano's are but am not sure. I have an extra set of SRAM X.9 shifters (I only run a rear derailleurs). And I probably even have an extra SRAM rear derailleur. But am not sure those are compatible with the road cassette.
Or do I need to go with a Shimano XT type, with equivalent shifter? (I know Shimano and SRAM rears are not compatible). Or something else?
Thanks for the response
Don

like it has already been said, sram road and mtn are not compatible. Also not sure if it was a typo or not but sram road is only 10spd.
You do have another option though. They make a double tap flat bar shifter for their 10spd road stuff. That would be the cheapest option for sure.

Sounds like I can use one of my XT rear shifters with a 105 rear derailleur.
I do like the sound of the 10 speed double tap flat bar setup. I might look at that for an upgrade.

Shimano mtb shifters are compatible with road derailleurs except at the front. You might have to buy a different front derailleur. However, Shimano does make "road flat bar" shifters, and I think you can get them in 9 speed.
