Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like : "Unbound Gravel". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

I ordered a frame/fork last month, they said would take four days. Called again after 4 days, he apologized and assured me a week, no more. After a week Nothing. A week later I get a call,..."it's all done", okay. I go up there (30 miles) on my lunch break and the frameset is still in the box, headset not installed, steerer tube not cut. I paid for the latter. Told me to come back Sunday, I called twice today and got a message "mailbox full". Shop not open tomorrow.

This sucks why? I already paid $850 and nothing at four weeks and originally I was told 4 days. I have missed the training clinic ($40) because of no bike and many-many group rides. I feel like my season could already be shot.

Would you cancel the order first thing Tuesday when they get in? Or grab the parts and take them to another shop and them finish the job?

take what they've got for you and find somewhere else to finish the job. I work at a very busy shop and sometimes the distributors take longer to ship parts/frames than they originally quote and I have found myself in a bind because of it. that said, installing a crown race, headset and cutting a steer tube is 10 minutes of work, tops. I bet you could find another shop locally to do that work for you on the spot. ive never shopped for bikes in denver, but the only shop that I've heard good word of from my customers is wheat ridge.

If you have the time, stand there while they do it. It's hard to be told to "come back Sunday" when you make it clear that you're not leaving without your frame set up the way you paid for it.

I've had Wheat Ridge do work for me in the past and have always been really satisfied. They are pretty expensive though and do not carry the brand of frame I bought...why I went elsewhere. I have a ride tomorrow that I am partly organizing that I committed to last week (I thought I would have the frame by now), a team ride Wednesday and then I am on vacation for nine days (can' wait), so its tomorrow or bust I guess. Tomorrow morning I am going up first thing and if its not done I'm taking it to Wheat Ridge or Schwab cycles to finish the job, or like the other poster said, wait there until it's done.

Advise to bike shop owners/employees: promise little, deliver much.
Advise to shoppers: do not sell your bike before you get the new one.
