Tubular cross wheels
Yes another wheel thread - I've checked over quite a few threads and there's lot's of info about clinchers, but I'm considering buying a second set this year and want to try tubulars. My main reason to do so is to avoid pinch flats, better handling would be a bonus. last year I had several pinch flats during cross races and would like to avoid this year. (I'm not under any delusions - just race for fun. But you can't race with a flat. 
)
I've heard mixed reviews about mavic reflex rims (cracking, pulled spokes - I'm sure if built/tension properly they're ok, but). I'd love to try some high end carbon rims but they're out of reach for me. I've talked to a local builder that can put together a set of ultegra/velocity pro elites, which would be bomb proof for my weight (215 lbs) for a reasonable price. I think the thing about high profile rims is they shed mud better, but these would be heavy @ 2,000+ grams.
I realize I'm limited at my weight, but wonder if anyone else has had a tubular wheel they like (that's not priced in the stratosphere.)

williams cyclocross wheels. not sure if they are tubbies though. ambrosio f20 rims are also a good option - MUCH lighter than velocity and still very strong.

A few guys around here (including me) do well with Velocity Escape rims.

I had/have velocity escapes on my SS. Last year. I bent the **** out of my brand new front wheel after maybe 5 races. Probably just bad luck more than anything. I still use the escape on my rear.
they are a little more narrow than a mavic reflex if that makes a difference. they are certainly easier to get.
