    Custom Surly Cross Check

    Just wanted to show off my Cross Check before I have to sell it. I did a lot of work on it, wanted to see how nice I could make a Surly. I added a few braze-ons, powdercoated it Midnight Blue, threw on my favorite components. Then I lost my job, so I have to say good bye.     Cool. One frame size too big for me. But its a sweet take off on a Surly Cross Check. I like it!

    That's a really nice build. My Cross Check frame just came in today, and its next stop is heading out to be powder coated. Surly's colors are just so ugly. I plan to put the Surly decals back on it.

    Anyway, back to your bike and your question...

    The problem with doing a custom build is that you built the bike you wanted, not necessarily the bike the buyer wants. You probably know you won't get your money back out of it. I probably wouldn't be willing to pay much more than what I could get a new Cross Check for, because the only upgrades that really excite me are the Chris King headset, the Phil Wood bottom bracket and the Paul brakes. If I wanted things like a Brooks saddle and bar-end shifters I might go a bit higher.

    Thanks for the comment. You should definitely braze on a rear brake housing stop while you have the frame stripped. It's totally worth it, even if you have to pay someone ten bucks to do it.

    ps> you can just cut the part off an old huffy or something so you don't have to spend $20 or so on the part.

    for my crosscheck I just used a for mount brake stop on the rear, but a welded on job would like nicer
    For Sale:
