Newbie question on sizing
Apologies for asking something I could probably search for, but I wondered what the general thought is on cross bike sizing? I generally ride 56-57 road frane, but have heard I should go down a size or two for cross. Does that sound right?
Thanks,
Dave Mc

Most people will go for a bit shorter top tube and/or stem. And a bit taller bar position. Other than that, get what fits. Some 'cross bikes will be listed as a size smaller than an equivalent length road bike because of a marginally taller BB, but these days, that's not a given.
My road bike (Cannondale CAAD5) is listed as a 52cm (C-T) and has a 535mm TT and 90mm stem.
My 'cross bike (Fisher Presidio) is listed as a 49cm (C-C) and has a 525mm TT and 90mm stem that has a bit more rise than the Cannondale's.
