Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like : "Unbound Gravel". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

new fantom cross *pics inside*

i had been riding a borrowed fantom CX trying to dial in my bike fit for when i ordered/LBSed a bike.

I decided on the fantom cross (64) because i hated the sora shifters with my big hands, and i wanted to be able to be below the max seat height and have my handlebars relatively higher compared to seat height (they were 2-3 inches below seat on 61). 5 days after i ordered the bike, it arrived in the mail...

unpacked everything

got the approval from the supervisory crew and began building

unwrapped everything

pumped up the tires, put on handlebars and guesstimated the seat height...

viola, the bike's put together...

took a break for dinner, and will go down and tune up the shifter and adjust breaks in a bit.

vuelta wheels came very true, and according to the packaging are tensioned and stressed 3x or something like that.

my rationale for the upgrade (799 vs 499) was mostly for the shifters. I figured the upgraded wheels and carbon fork were a bonus.

**sorry about poor pics, for some reason the camera that sits in my golf bag all year wasn't taking good pics lol**

I'm thinking about getting a frame from Bikeisland.com. I recently killed my Surly Crosscheck, and my "accountant" has limited me to an amount equal to my Christmas money.
