Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like : "Unbound Gravel". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

anyone else have a completely dry cross season?

Pretty much, but that's normal here unless I travel far afield for races.

Basically dry here - but hey, it is Southern California. I think a couple of recent races had rain just prior, but I wasn't there.
Temps at my races have been about 103, 88, 95, 65 and 80.

Yep. Sunday's race was a little wet by the end because we ran the ice on the ground into the dirt. That's it.

We had one mudfest a couple of weekends ago, but otherwise we are on a burn watch, which is pretty rare for KC.

I had one completely dry race. Does that count?

I've had one or two with rain, but all the rest ended up being beautiful. It was strange because it would be 40s all week, then Sat and Sun roll around and its 65 and sunny. Crazy West Virginia

Had some of those. Most of the local races I've been to have been in public parks with alcohol prohibitions. I've also seen some up north held on schools with their no tolerance policies.
Messed up, I say.
Promoters need to do as much as they can to find affordable places that allow drinking.

(Rumor has it that some prohibitions have not been followed by all. I'll take the fifth - rum, please- on that)

Florida in the winter? Yeah it's dry here... but that's a given this time of year. Of course we're only half way done down here. Only 3 races down in the state series so I guess there's still time for a wet nasty cold race.

Biggest problem here has been the heat. The actual races so far have been pleasant but our local practice race series has had some scorchers.

Our local promoter on the Facebook page said that it hasn't rained on a race since 2004, so I guess almost every season is dry here.

We haven't had a single dry day up here in the North San Francisco Bay Area. It's been absolutely delightful.

Here's a video someone took at last week's race:

"I should really call this a mud biathlon. At least 1/3 of this race was running... er... plodding through the fine Santa Rosa peanut butter."

Damn to that race above looks pretty ridiculous.

Other than morning dew and racing in the first frost, it's been completely dry up here in New England.

Sacramento is traditionally pretty dry, but since I haven't chased points in 3 years I just skip any wet events.

I have fond memories of racing in severly muddy Ione, CA, but am happy to leave such efforts to the past. Leaving a shoe behind in foot-deep mud isn't much fun.

I'm still cleaning my bike after the last Lange Twins race. I think we only had one dry race so far this year.

I kinda need to rescind my last comment as our Santa Cross was muddy and rainy. Some combination of that and debris cut my Ultegra rear der in half and bent my der hanger.
