Thinking of buying a used Cross Check complete
Would use it mainly for commuting/touring/long rides. It's an '06 with 2600 miles (not CX miles) and looks to be in fine condition. Can anyone hazard a guess as to a fair price?

I think it depends on your area. $600 maybe?

yeah, if it is stock, used, but in near perfect condition, 600 is about a fair price, much like a car, it loses value as soon as someone takes ownership.

Go to your ebay account and tick the box for doing a Completed Items search and the Used items box, enter "Surly Cross Check", and bingo - you've got a spread of bikes and prices. Pick the couple of bikes you think the fairest comparisons and you have a price.

Sounds good. It's being offered at $600 in fact, so I guess that's right on.
I did not know one could search for completed items on ebay...thanks for the tip.

A word of warning, the stock build on that bike isn't that great. The Andel triple crank with granny removed has a LOUSY chainline. The brakes start giving you problems after a while and the Ritchey headset is a throwaway. Great frame, lousy build.

CC really hold their value used. They're kind of like a Honda Accord Toyota Celica. It's almost easier to buy new and get the warranty.
