Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like : "Unbound Gravel". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

Urban CX, mud, and small apartments

Does this scenario sound familiar to anyone? I rode home after some muddy urban CX action, covered in mud. Hosed myself and my bike off as best I could before going inside, but still managed to track mud all over the place. Any tips for dealing with muddy bikes when space is at a premium? At least I was smart enough to keep a hose on the patio. Can't get away with leaving it connected.

After the hose-down ride to the nearest coffee shop to let the bike drip-dry for 15 minutes.

Go to one of those "you wash your car" places and spray your bike off. It will dry on the way home.

Yup. Car wash. Keep the high pressure away from the bearing areas + moving parts, but most nozzles will spray an easier spray of water when you're not pulling the trigger, so you can get muck out of the cassette, and drivetrain.

You may be surprised to know the water that comes out is pretty hot, so it isn't too miserable in the winter, usually.
