Flagstaff, AZ area: CX friendly rides ?

I'll be in Flagstaff, AZ this sat & sun with both days open for hours of cycling.

Any suggestions for good CX friendly rides? I know the area quite well from a hiking and a dirt road driving perspective (I know quite a few fire roads), but not from a cycling perspective. I was going to explore some of the dirt roads I know from driving, but perhaps someone here has some ideas.

Head over and do the climb up Mount Elden to the top--good scenery and the view is incredible at the top. Its around a 6-7 mile climb as I recall. There are also some good roads on the other side of Mt. Elden over near where Little Bear and Sunset trails dump out. Stop in to Absolute Bikes in downtwon and ask them, they will set you up--great place!

Thanks for the tip. Is this quite technical? Are the uphills quite bad for CX gearing (I've heard about switchbacks on this trail) Reason I ask is I've heard mtb talk about this as great singletrack - is it really CX compatible?)

There is good singletrack in the area, but the climb to the top of Mount Elden is pure Fireroad (many singletrack options coming off it that would not be cx friendly)--same goes for my other suggestion--Little Bear, Sunset etc are all good mountain bike trails but they dump onto forest service roads--the roads would have good scenery and be doable on a cx bike. Gearing wise, you'd be fine. I climbed the whole Mt. Elden climb on the road on my mountain bike last June, no issues and I was in the middle ring the whole way.
