Recreational Cyclocross and Gravelbiking This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like :The Dirty Kanza". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

New Brake Levers.

I own a 2009 Surly Crosscheck with the standard Shimano Brake levers installed. I was interested in getting the Tektro R200 or a Tektro rl340s. I want to do this because my current brake levers are uncomfortable after a long ride and i like the quick release feature. Does anyone know if the Tektros on the new crosschecks are wider then the old Shimanos?

Also is there any way to just buy bigger hoods? Any info would be great thanks!

The R200's are pretty wide too. I don't know how wide the Shimano lever's you have are. The R200's are about as wide as my bar is when the bar is wrapped in thick gel tape.

Of course, the unwritten rules of Bike Forums require me to suggest that your problem is actually with bike fit and not equipment. It's standard practice whenever someone says they aren't comfortable. It may also be true.

R200 levers are much wider than the Shimano aero levers - they are copies of the Campagnolo Ergo levers. Much more comfortable for me and my hands aren't even very big.
