Cane Creek SCX-5 Cantilever Brake ?

These brakes any good or should I avoid them?
I am also looking at the Avid Shorty 6 ..

I have these brakes on my Redline Conquest Pro. They are easy to adjust and provide decent braking. I do not experence any shuddering of the fork either. I actually just bought another pair at biketiresdirect.com for my wifes JTS that I plan on installing this weekend.

I haven't used the Avid Shorty 6, but I absolutely despise the Shorty 4.

personally, i prefer this brake over the avids. tough to go wrong with either. seems like i feel more stopping power with the cane creek, but better modulation with the avid.

I like them, have used them for years. AFAIK they are rebadged Tektro Oryx, but come with nicer pads.

just got some myself....will be testing them in my first race of the season (finally!)....but they've done well in 'training' this past week. got mine on sale thru good ole Nashbar

i'm pretty sure the only difference between the shorty 4 and 6 is the hardware. i've also hated my shorty 4s.

I hated my shorty 4's as well. I put some Tektro CR720's last year and have never looked back. I put the smaller (road sized) pads on the front (I hear they sell them that way now) and the fork judder went away.
It's hard to beat at about $20 a wheel.
