Recreational Cyclocross and Gravelbiking This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like :The Dirty Kanza". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

Non-Serious CycloCross is SERIOUS FUN

Great attitude found by some new to the sport cyclocross fans... so as the video ends "so life is good!"

I can relate!

Non-serious is exactly the kind of racing I do! I see myself more as a roving obstacle than a racer. Of course, I still want to do as well as I can, usually fighting tooth-and-nail for 175th place. These guys sound like they're like-minded.

BTW, let me share the greatest cyclocross video ever made (which also demonstrates the non-serious nature of things):

The video I (unsuccessfully) was looking for was the guys cyclocross racing a Surly Big Dummy. I saw that, saw the costumes, and said "If I ever get into racing, that's what I want to do."

So props to the CX guys for keeping it fun.

Seriously, don't wait until you feel like racing. I can testify that it's crazy fun even for the person who finishes last. If nothing else, it's a good excuse to ride your bike in the mud without worrying about what you might do to the trail, and then before you know it you're coughing up a lung trying to catch the guy in front of you.

I think that is just the type of thing that drew me to want to try hand at cross racing. We shall see when the Chicago Cross Cup starts up this fall.
