2012 Felt Breed

Wow! Is this not a hot one? BB30, tapered HT, sealed bearing hubs, Shortys, and a bottle opener.

https://www.feltbicycles.com/USA/2012.../Cy/Breed.aspx

I think I'll be getting one ASAP.

as an owner of a 09 breed, and as cool as i think that looks, i wish they had not gone away from the black and robins egg blue theme.

Lime-neon green and black is a popular color this year.

Turns out there's a tough choice to be made! My Breed wouldn't arrive until late October, so that gives me time to save up and get the F65X instead(they get that in at the same time). I wouldn't get the F75X because it's Shimano, and I prefer SRAM. Either one I get has to accomplish these things: Commuting in bad weather and some winter, getting a 'variety workout', and leading a 'bike-gang ride'.

Definition of va·ri·e·ty work·out noun
1. Biking on the street for up to 10 miles to light trails where I might ride them, or do some trail running.
2. Doing the local boulevard with a gravel base as a track. I would be timing myself this way while doing it at a highly aerobic pace.

Definition of bike gang ride verb
1. A group of friends over 21 years of age riding at a casual pace at night with just one beer per person to a quite and pleasant place. Once arrived a long-lasting conversation happens for at least an hour partially due to the social lubricant brought along.

what would be cool is if the SS had the ability to have a RD hanger on it so you can run gears later on...how cool would that be

I wouldn't want to run gears later if I chose the Breed. It's more about: will a single speed with less drivetrain maintenance that's lighter or a shifting powerful brakes be better for the goals listed?

Multi Geared and single speed bikes have separate races,
2 bikes.. you could get in more races on the same weekend , that way.

I have a breed.... so I can race SS as well. Nice getting 2 races a weekend in.

Also, have a B bike for my geared race rather than wheels. Havent had to swap out, but nice knowing you can pit the bike if wanted/needed.

I still lust after that bike/paint scheme. (I also lust after the 2011 Masi SS CX - the new paint job just isn't as nice.)

I actually know someone who races in a multi-speed with a Breed frame.

Turns out I'm going with the Breed I'm going to save the difference to go toward the mountain bike I'll need.

That Breed is tempting. Not sure how I'd do on a SS though. I've been eying the F4X as well. Two completely different animals but the gears are tempting me. Maybe HTFU and save a grip of cash and go with the Breed? Decisions, Decisions...

IcySmooth, whens the estimated delivery for your Breed?

Felt just got their shipment of Breeds in and the F65X will be there soon. They've had all the other 2012 cyclocross models in for awhile. I'll be getting my Breed in about 2 weeks.

It looks like I'll be going half way between the two; the F75X. It'll shift with a nice drivetrain, looks cool still, and... Will get an upgrade on the brakes!

I'm acting like a young female still though (can't make up my mind). The Breed still stands a chance.
