Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like : "Unbound Gravel". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

My first cross build

I've been wanting to build up a cross bike for awhile. I originally bought a Salsa Vaya this summer but wasn't really happy with it and just felt like I was pedaling a turd. Mind you it's a beefier touring bike and not a cross bike. I sold it and decided to build something up. This was the first bike in a long time that I bought new and from a store and later found out why I don't usually buy complete bikes. By the time you make changes to it...new saddle, bars, maybe different length stem, upgrade the wheels, yada yada. Your better off just building something with what you exactly want. This is how I normally build my bikes. The Vaya just looked cool but didn't work for me.

So I've been eyeballing the Guerciotti cx frames for awhile and decided on a Atos with a full carbon fork. I normally ride a 49cm seat tube/52cm top tube so I picked up a 50cm frame that has a 52cm top tube. They offer a 48cm seat tube/50cm top tube frame but didn't want a really long stem probably putting me over the front axle. So here's my build

-Guerciotti Atos frame/full carbon fork $500
-Mavic Aksium Race wheels $200
-Kenda 700x32 Small Block 8's $60
-Sach 8spd Ergo shifters(rebranded Campagnolo Ergos made to work with Shimano)$80
-XTR 8spd front and rear derailleurs $88
-Jagwire Racer cable set $37
-Sram 8spd chain $15
-Thomson Elite seatpost $50
-3T Ergosum bars/3T ARX stem $100
-Cane Creek headset $60
-FSA Gossamer CX cranks $72
-Shimano Ultegra bottom bracket $30
-Crank Bros eggbeater pedals $50
-Nashbar GR2 saddle(Fizik Arione copy) $30
-TRP EuroX brakes $84

Total of $1456(include shipping also) and tips the scales at just a hair over 20 lbs.
