rim recommendations for CX?

Going to build my gf up a CX bike and need some recommendations for quality rims.

Probably going to use some older dura ace hubs that have outlasted their current rims.

Don't need to break the bank, these will probably just be used for training, but she is a crit racer and might decide to do a little CX off-season, so they should be decent enough to put up a competitive showing if necessary.

No carbon (can't afford it), and no tubulars (she refuses to deal with the "hassle").

Thanks!

Look into Velocity A23s. Good rec's from several sources.

I second that. I have a pair of A23 rims and I do it all on those bad boys. Velocity rims are economical, robust, and some models including the A23 happen to be pretty light. In cross, they pair well with a wider cross tire than other thinner rims. The A23's are 23mm wide unlike most road rims that are only 19mm. On the road they ride similar to the HED and Zipp rims. They widen a road tire contact patch for better grip.

the aero section rims make good mud rudders ..
and the pointy edge wont collect a layer like a Box section rim might.

Sounds good, I'll look into them. Thanks!

I'll sell ya mine - they are indestructible.

I just finished building a set of wheels with A23's. I haven't put them on the road yet, but apparently it was a good choice. :)

Very happy with my A23s, I have two sets. I've used several tire sizes from 700x23 to 700x38 and a few sizes between those two. Great all-around rim. The new standard, picking up from where the Mavic Open Pro left off.
