Recreational Cyclocross and Gravelbiking This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like :The Dirty Kanza". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

Strongest Longest-lasting frame

Hey guys, so i am looking for the strongest longest lasting cyclocross style frame there is. I dont care about top speed or how light it is. Im looking for the bullet-proof frame. Ive read a lot about the Surly Cross Check frame that it is sturdy as a brick house to a wolf, but are then any others to consider?

A little info on why i am looking for bullet-proof frame is that I am looking into building a bike that can outlast the apocalypse! lol

I want it to be able to handle loaded front and rear racks and a trailer for thousands and thousands of miles (obviously with basic maintenance and a couple fixes here and there) without major problems.

But touring bikes are not cyclocross bikes .. so this is not the forum you are looking for.

Cyclo cross,a lap race that lasts an hour, which shares some characteristics
with steeple chase races on horseback,
but you don't shoulder your horse and run up steep slopes.

you do that every lap on a Cross race [if the course designer laid it out that way]

bring a Magnet to your local Bike shop, and look for a nice steel framed bike.

Look into a Salsa Vaya or Fargo . After I powdercoated my Vaya it is a compleatly solid frame that will outlast and hold up to anything I put it through. Loaded touring to bombing singletrack.

Thanks for the input guys, i really like the vaya and fargo, the fargo seems to lean more towards the off-road side of a hybrid though lol. I will also be Line-X'ing my frame
