Gravel Roads
So I went to go ride on some gravel roads and noticed that on the sections with alot of loose gravel it got really sketchy. By sketchy I mean it felt like I was sliding all over the place. Will wider tires with stability or will it just be the same? I'm currently running 700x34c Thanks

Sure, wider tires and more aggressive tread will help some, but what you are experiencing is just part of riding gravel. It will make you a better rider. If the gravel is loose because of recent maintenance then just give it time and it will pack down, usually after a good rain.

Wider tires with lower pressure help. It also helps to stay loose and always be using your drive to correct for slippage.

Thanks for the info.. so basically I should just get use to it and rock the tires I have.

part of my daily commute is on a gravel trail that goes from packed to 2" deep/loose in spots.
went from Kenda Quick 30's to Rando 32's (for the road sections of the loop). i run the Rando's at +5max psi. i felt a little more control with the mild knobbiness of the Kendas, if i was trying to really put the hammer down and make time. at casual speeds it was just HTFU. |
Loose gravel will move, get used to it..
